Ellen is Vice Chairwoman of First Citizens BancShares, Inc. and serves on the board of directors. From 2016 until 2022, she was CEO and chairperson of CIT Group, where she oversaw CIT’s multi-year development into a national bank. The recent 2022 merger with First Citizens generated a top 20 U.S. bank combining CIT Group and First Citizens. The combined entity is more than $100 billion in assets under the First Citizens Bank name. Before the merger with First Citizens, Ellen led CIT’s strategy to sell non-core activities, construct market-leading brands, de-risk the portfolio, increase operational efficiency, and strengthen its financing profile. In addition, Ellen was responsible for organically growing the Bank through mergers.
