Minouche or Nemat is an academic, scholar, author, economist, and respected banker currently serving as Director at the London School of Economics since September 2017. Nemat’s career has embraced both academia and setting public policy in her varied and prestigious roles. Nemat has held prominent positions with the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the Bank of England.
She obtained her BA at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, her MSc at LSE, and her DPhil at the University of Oxford. In addition, she has taught at Georgetown University and the Wharton Business School.
Nemat has chaired numerous boards and is a Trustee of the British Museum, the Supervisory Board of Siemens, the Council of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, and the Economy Honours Committee. She was named Dame Commander of the British Empire in the ‘Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2015. In July 2020, Minouche was made a cross-bench peer in the House of Lords.
