Shelly Johnson

Zions Bank

Shelly is an EVP of operations, risk, and strategy at Zions Bank. In addition, she has managerial oversight responsibilities for commercial loan operations, risk, issues remediation, operational technology transformation, high-risk strategic projects, diversity, equality, and inclusion. Shelly has 30 years of financial and risk management experience and has been the Intermountain Regional Credit Executive’s Portfolio Manager in Credit Administration at Zions Bank since 2013. In 2016, she became Senior Manager, Finance and Strategy, reporting to the CFO. Before joining Zions Bank, Shelly worked for British Petroleum, Wasatch Energy, and a biofuel startup. She has experience in financial trading, compliance, corporate policy, credit risk and underwriting, counterparty lines of credit, and portfolios for small enterprises and multinational food and agricultural firms. Shelly graduated from Weber State University, earning BA in Psychology and Communications. Westminster College awarded her a master’s in business administration, and at the University of Utah, she received certification in Lean Six Sigma (non-manufacturing, green belt).

Shelly is a board member for many Salt Lake City firms and NGOs, a committee member for the Utah Bankers Association (UBA), and the past president of the Risk Management Association’s Salt Lake Chapter (RMA). Johnson heads Zion’s enterprise’s diversity, equity, and inclusion committee and supports altering Utah’s Adoptee Citizenship Act of 2020 in 2022. Finally, Shelly attended the American Bankers Association Women’s Leadership Forum.
